This healthy smoothie has become a family favorite especially with my kids. My son comes home and begs for his spinach smoothie, as he calls it. If you have a hard time getting your kids to eat your veggies, give this healthy green smoothie recipe for kids a try. It is exceptional in the mornings to help kick start your day, and is a regular treat in our household for the whole family.
1 cup Kale
1 cup spinach
1 ½ tbsp hemp seed
1 tsp chia seed
½ avocado
½ banana
½ apple
1 cup coconut water
Ice
Agave
Health benefits
Kale: high in fiber, iron, vitamin K, A, and C.
Spinach: high in vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, manganese, zinc and selenium.
Hemp seed: is a high protein seed containing all nine of the essential amino acids. It has high amounts of fatty acids and fiber as well as containingvitamin E and trace minerals. It also has omega 3 to 6 fats at around a three to one ratio.
Chia seeds: provide fiber, iron, calcium, niacin, magnesium, zinc and phosphorus.
2 tablespoons of Chia = 7 grams of fiber, 2 grams of protein, 205 milligrams of calcium and 5 grams omega-3.
Avocado: is a fruit, has vitamin E, an essential vitamin that protects against disease and helps maintains your overall health.
Banana: high in potassium
Apples: a good way to boost your immune system with vitamin C (providing 14% of the Daily Value).
Coconut water: very hydrating and potassium rich and high in electrolytes.
Agave: low-glycemic index
